Welcome!

I'm Elaina - child of God and wife to Josh. I'm a west coast girl living in a land-locked province (Ontario), but wherever I am, you can find me in deep conversations with family, enjoying coffee with friends, eating large quantities of ice-cream, and reading, writing, or listening to music. I love words. Through a series of inconspicuous events, God called my heart to biblical counseling. I don't always feel qualified and I don't always feel adequate. That's good, at least, because I'm not. But I do always feel in awe to know Christ and be known by Him. He alone is sufficient.

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue" (Prov. 18:21). . . "gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body," (Prov. 16:24). . . "the words of a man's mouth are deep waters" (Prov. 18:4). . . We have all felt the power of words. Words that build up, encourage, and deepen love and trust. Words that tear down, cut like ice, and break all trust. Words that are genuine, words that deceive. Words that forgive, words that condemn. Words that love, words that hate.

Ever since I was young, the power of words intrigued me. Whether a word spoken with a great deal of thought, or a word spoken in the heat of the moment, all words come from deep waters - from our hearts. Words are a gift, they are also a weighty privilege.

Not only has God given us the Scriptures, filled with His very own words, He has given us His own Son, the Word of life (John 1:1-4). Jesus' words to us are life-giving, joy-filling, and hope-expanding. Furthermore, God has given His creation the ability to speak. As the heavens declare His glory (Ps. 19:1), so I pray that through my words I would glorify Him and offer to Him what He is so deserving of - all praise. The plea of the psalmist in Psalm 19:14 is the cry of my heart also, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."
